A Cuppa Catchup

OH ‘ELLO CHAPS.

It’s been quite a while since I sat down and threw out some thoughts in a catch up style post. So maybe it’s about time I spill the beans on what life has looked like lately, huh?

Well, I can tell you that the impossible has happened. I recently ran for a whole twenty minutes on the treadmill at the gym. I say run, but what I mean is jog. Still I am bloody chuffed that I can see and feel how my fitness is improving. Yes, I still need to lose weight but following the Coach to 5K app has made me push myself and really test my abilities and even enjoy running a little bit. Mostly the feeling you get after you’ve run, caught your breath and no longer feeling like you’re dying. After all that stuff comes the OMFG I DID IT feeling and I’m trying to carry that feeling over to other aspects of my life – mainly this whole freelance lark.

If this lazy lump can jog for 20 minutes and live to tell the tale, maybe she can also create and run a viable business. After all, February has been a strong month for client work and I’m starting to feel less like I’m blagging it and more like I kinda-sorta know what I’m doing as a business owner. I’m no longer frantically searching the web for answers about tax or how to write a proposal. I’m feeling like at the moment I can run the business without that nasty bitch imposter syndrome. It’s a rather fabulous feeling tbh.

A hurdle I still need to get over with the business is managing my time better. I have busy weeks ahead of me and so I’ve started using Wunderlist, which basically lets you create to do lists in categories and virtually tick them off as you go. You can also set reminders for things which is going to be the big help (especially when it comes to chasing input/feedback/invoices). I’m an obsessively organised person so in theory managing my time should be super easy, but when you just want to say “yes” to every project, it’s striking a balance between a good income flow and a healthy mind.

Anyway, enough about the business. You can read my freelance posts to stay up to date with that. It was Pancake Day recently which is almost as important as Christmas, and of course Valentines Day which is less important than pancakes but still an excuse to exchange gifts.

Y’all can have your red roses and jewellery, because Liam’s gift to me was clothes shopping. Now don’t get me wrong, I won’t be trading in this life to be a gold digger and get him to buy me nice things all the time, but expenses like new clothes are out of scope for me at the moment so all I really wanted for Valentines was the chance to get some bits from Primark and maybe a jumper or two from New Look or H&M.

In other news, I am still obsessed with The Greatest Showman soundtrack and have listened to it daily since Boxing Day. So y’know, that’s healthy. I am also booked on to not one but two of the sing-a-long screenings and I cannot wait to sing along to This is Me in my tone deaf singing voice. I’ve also been listening to a few of the bands from my yoof including Panic! at the Disco and My Chemical Romance – because maybe I’m realising how old I’m becoming and am desperately trying to cling on to the memories of my more emo days. Who knows, eh?

So there’s a little catch up from me! What have you been up to lately?
