Monthly Favourites : August 2016

monthly favourites august

I usually find August to be a really slow month. It’s getting ever closer to the Autumn seasons (although it hasn’t really felt like it, has it?), and time tends to drag a little whilst I wait for hot chocolate and jumpers to become more acceptable. I know I shouldn’t wish the summer away, but when the leaves change and the temperature cools down, it feels a little…cosier.

This month has been a pretty busy one which is probably why this year, August has sped by! I usually write my monthly favourites throughout the month so that the post is ready to go on the last day, but this month I didn’t even start typing this until 29th! So let’s get started…

leaving: my job. I will miss the team, a lot. But starting a new adventure working for a charity is (hopefully!) going to be great. I start on 5th September, so I have this week off to unwind (oh, and try and book a few house viewings, too…).

filming: youtube videos. I’m trying to get back into filming YT videos more regularly, so pop on over to my channel and check them out. Feel free to subscribe, if you like!

moving: back to liam’s! So at the end of the month, I moved back in to Liam’s as the new job is closer to his by about 10 minutes. We’re at the current house for a few more months whilst we look for somewhere new which is both stressful and exciting, but I am glad to be living with him again rather than only getting to see him at the weekends.

watching: south park. South Park is one of those shows that really makes me laugh. Sure, it can be really immature but it can also be incredibly clever with its humour! We’re working our way through the many seasons to catch up, and it’s been a nice way to unwind in the evenings.

catching up with: my single issue comics. I had let a pile build up of my single issues, and there really is no need as it only takes a few minutes to read each one! I’m really loving Black Eyed Kids and Animosity at the moment, so would recommend giving them a read if you’re comic book inclined!

wearing: more makeup. I’m not much of a makeup wearer at all, but I’ve started collecting a few lipsticks from Soap & Glory’s makeup collection, and have so far been pretty impressed! I’m also pretty chuffed that after a few months of filling in my eyebrows (and avoiding the tweezers), they are starting to look fuller now, hurray!

seeing: suicide squad. We’ve been waiting a while for Suicide Squad, and were luckily not disappointed (full spoiler-free review here)! It’s a lot of fun, and if you go in expecting that you won’t be disappointed. If you’re expecting a serious film, then maybe give this a miss.

discovering: it was a whole year ago that we met Robert Englund! Aka Freddy Krueger! At the end of August last year me and Liam went to our first comic con together in Bournemouth. Sure, it’s no SDCC but we got to meet and have our photo taken with the legend that is Robert Englund. Here’s the vlog I made about it last year.

wearing: shorts and skirts. The glorious weather this month has meant that I can crack out the pretty flowy skirts like the Cath Kidston number at the beginning of this post, as well as comfy shorts. Whilst I am clearly looking forward to wrapping up for A/W seasons, I have enjoyed being able to wear items I hadn’t worn for a while…and of course buy new clothes, too!

What’s made your August awesome?
